The SS Star of Oregon was the first Liberty Ship built by the Oregon Shipbuilding Company, Oregon. The ship was launched in September 1941 and operated by the States Steamship Company of Portland. The Star of Oregon had a short service period – it was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine near Tobago in August 1942.
