USS Camden (AOE-2) Areas With Asbestos Exposure

USS Camden (AOE-2)

The USS Camden (AOE-2) was a Sacramento-class fast combat support ship, laid down in 1964, launched in 1965, commissioned in 1967, and assigned to the Pacific Fleet in the same year. In 1974, the vessel operated extensively along the West Coast and deployed frequently to the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans to support units of the Seventh Fleet. After an overhaul in 1980, she headed for Central America to conduct training and flight operations in 1983 as one of the seven Ranger Carrier Battle Group ships. In 1991, the ship assisted USS Stark after being attacked by unfriendly fire and was assigned to resupply the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and support vessels. In 1996, she received her third consecutive Battle "E" award for excelling in all warfare and mission categories. The combat support ship again won the Battle "E" in 2004 for her rescue assistance services. The USS Camden was decommissioned and stricken from the Register in 2005. Inhaling asbestos dust can lead to serious health problems decades later. Therefore, we encourage everyone who served on this ship to undergo regular medical examinations to make sure their health has not been affected. If you received an asbestos-related cancer diagnosis, it is important to understand your legal options.
