Asbestos is commonly used as a fire retardant and also provides protection against corrosion. As a result, it has been used in shipbuilding prior to 1980. The most common professions where exposure to asbestos is prevalent include pipefitter, plumber, shipyard workers, and Naval sailors. If asbestos is the cause of your medical conditions or the death of a loved one, you may be entitled to compensation for the cost of treatment and pain and suffering that are awarded under law.

Everyone who served on the USS Guardfish (SS-217) inhaled the asbestos fibers and is at risk for developing lung disease
