Located in Morgan City, Louisiana, the shipyard was established in 1991, and even though the heyday of asbestos was mostly gone, employees still risk being exposed to it due to the presence of old and friable products. Today, the name of the shipyard is MTG Dolphin Shiprepair & Shipbuilding Company. During the last century, workers came in contact with asbestos while removing insulation, which could be pipe insulation, boiler insulation, gasket insulation, or wire insulation. The employees of Dolphin Shipyard would be exposed to asbestos when ships would be demolished as well since the building materials they would be made of contained asbestos. Upon disturbing these construction products, asbestos dust would be released into the air once again.
